I wouldn't say that no one connects through MSN, its just not very common.
The combined United operation will be serving EWR, CLE, ORD and DEN from MSN. Its entirely possible that given a fluke fare, someone would route through MSN. There's also the chance for a irrops reroute for another airline's passenger.
As I said, likely? No. Possible, yes.
