Entered a CC and reserved a room, received a confirmation with all of the correct information and a confirmation number. Not thinking there was an issue, I fly to HKG and at check in in the middle of the night they had no record of me in the local hotel system at all.

Related to air travel - a few years ago UA issued three award tickets in business with a mix of UA and TG flights. We received the tickets on printed UA paper stock. I called TG to make seat assignments and they had never heard of us.

And finally back in 1973 my girlfriend (now wife) and I booked a trip with a TA to go to ST and stay in a hotel. Get the tickets and hotel vocher, fly there, and the hotel never heard of us.
