I can't see how this would work to an airline's advantage. Part of the VDB/IDB or not to VDB/IDB decision is whether or not there are enough no-shows to avoid bumping anyone. If you don't want to come to the airport, you're a potential no-show, exactly what they need in that situation. It's a matter of pay me or fly me.
