Because I found it virutally impossible to find reasonably priced Skyteam award tickets to SE Asia, I also checked out of Delta and SM a year ago, and did a status match with UA. From my limited experience so far (one trip), Star Alliance award availability to SE Asia is far better. In addition to UA, 7 or 8 partners will get you there (some via Europe). While I miss some of things I really liked about Delta, I'm glad I made the switch.
