As to booking you on another carrier, makes no sense from DL's perspective to do that at this stage. DL loses the revenue for a ticket which it sold when there may not be a problem.

None of this means that you can't call and ask.
Of course a day and a half in front of the flight they aren't going to do anything. I was really asking if there was any precedent or strategy for rebooking and a voucher 3 hours beforehand while I was in MSY and had far better rerouting options on DL than 1 hour beforehand at the gate in MEM. I've been through enough bumps that I always understood this was a long shot at best. That said, I've learned a LOT from this forum and still am surprised sometimes so I thought I'd ask.

Assuming we don't luck into a proactive call from DL, I might ask in MSY, but will make sure to volunteer immediately on arrival in MEM where I'll ask first for a rebooking on US (not likely but could happen) or one of my overnight options in DTW or MSP if my wife permits.

It's quite a turn she's made in the last year...from skeptic about all this stuff, to enjoying the fruits, to reluctant participant, to independently volunteering on her last flight and calling me for instructions on what to do. But this messes with her 4th of July with her family so it's her call.

Thanks again for the input.
