Thanks for all the replies. Guess I was a too optimistic in hoping the businesses would allow for better inter-systems integration that would facilitate merging PNRs from partner carriers.

Haven't made the purchase yet, just investigating to see how much effort it will be to make things work. Part of the challenge is DL's website isn't very effective when you want to include skyteam or any other codeshare partners.

Btw, it is possible to merge 2 DL PNRs. Can be a real PITA but you can call the helpdesk and follow the golden rule - if the person says no, politely end the conversation and try again.
