I am not sure what you are asking. Since, you arrive in DEL on AA, and depart on Air Asia after 4 hours, it seems to me reliability of Air Asia makes little difference. What's more important is reliability of AA. Don't you think?
Four hour layover seems to be sufficient for almost any connection, but one has to be able to account for any unusual circumstances. Air Asia's policy in case of no show is the only relevant factor as far as Air Asia is concerned.

You cannot check your bags through to BKK as Air Asia doesn't interline. I would not take an LCC in a situation like yours, even if I did not have checked in baggage.

There are better ways of getting to BKK from the U.S. than going via DEL on an LCC. If you must go on a One World carrier, you can choose CX or JL. If you must go via DEL, you have 9W, IT and AI to connect from DEL.

AA, by any means is not an LCC.
