Nobody said you shouldn't be able to take your kids in Y. (Ok, a few people did and I agree, but I concede that it's not practical/feasible) I don't even mind babies in C/F on short flights, it's just long-hauls and red-eyes where people want to sleep which are the problem. The main reason I fly in C is so that I can get a good rest, and I don't include crying babies in my travel plans. I don't care if I'm flying for work or leisure, babies can turn even the best flight into a terrible experience. If you're travelling with your baby, chances are that you don't need to "hit the ground running" at your destination like many passengers in C. If elites are willing to take a middle Y seat TPAC because of some last-minute situation, surely a family with a baby can suffer in a bulkhead row for a few flights until the kids get a bit bigger.

I agree that there are many adults who can be just as bad, or even worse than a crying baby, but at least babies are an identifiable problem which can be fixed. Saying that you should be able to take a baby which could possibly disrupt the flying experience of other paying passengers (who are subsidising the majority of Y passengers) and bringing up your status is being just as DYKWIA as the hotshot elites yelling into their phones in the lounge.

Not even close to the same thing. This is why I won't fly El Al (that and having no need/desire to go to Israel again).
