I was at The Victoria Falls Hotel in August and would not recommend it. The grounds are attractive, but the rooms are crummy (Motel 6 would likely be an improvement). And to give you an idea of what you might expect from the staff, there are signs in the room that say "Thou Shalt Not Tempt!" Definitely do not go expecting a luxury hotel.

If you want to stay on that side of the falls, there is a fairly new/hotel casino next door to the Victoria Falls Hotel. I ate there one day and it was clean and staff was friendly. It lacks any Old World charm, but then, so does the Victoria Falls Hotel, unfortunately.

As you are going to be there two days, another option would be to stay at the Matetsi Water Lodge. This is a wonderful game park that was operated by &Beyond when I was there in August, but looks as though it no longer is. Anyway, they will arrange day trips to the falls (and they can easily be done in a day from there). Assuming it is still managed as it was as an &Beyond lodge, there was a staff-to-guest ratio of 12-1 and food and guides were excellent. http://www.victoriafalls-guide.net/m...ter-lodge.html
