I was thinking of real hardsides like Samsonite Sil 11 or Rimowa Topas with full frames. Not the poly-whatever flimsy stuff. BTW, Rimowa has one like that that is a hybrid. It has the flimsy stuff but also has a nylon panel with pockets.

Look better. Hm, OK. I give you that. But it's a matter of taste.

Sturdier. There is a great video where an elephant trashes some luggage. The soft ones last longer. Let's call it the bamboo effect.

Lighter at the lower end. True that. Heys is light.

My 311 bag fits in the outside pocket of each of my sport coats. Obviously it contains nothing but liquids. Grooming hardware gets packed in another ziploc which is in the luggage. It will fit even easier in the pockets of a travel anorak like my Cole Haan, a Barbour or in the pockets of a normal trench coat. This is one of the reasons I advocate bringing such a piece of clothing especially when onebagging.

Besides, the last ten times, I didn't even bother to take out the 311. It was in my briefcase. Nobody said anything to me. Whether it's in the briefcase or out, they can see it just the same. And they don't bother anymore. That's only my experience, of course, not a general rule. But one might try it.

I travel very well with reduced liquids. Crystal deo, soap bar for shaving (soap for washing is available anywhere I go), American Crew Defining Cream for what's left on the cranium. All of that is solid.

The only liquids are a small tube of toothpaste or any other ointment if I happen to need any. It's not even enough to need its own 311 bag. Fits in any pocket. Toothpaste is generally available at the front desk or from friends if I stay with friends.

Of course, if one is the kind of person who cannot travel without their very own shampoo, conditioner, shave gel, moisturizer, contact lens solution etc, it is more difficult.

I say adapt and make the new solution your very own.
