I used to just loop my purse strap around the hook multiple times. I don't want to put my purse on the floor of an airport restroom, since I'll often put my purse down on my dining table at home, too. It's just one of those things.

If there's no hook, I'll just leave it slung over my shoulder. If I have a coat, I drape it over the top of the door.
