Reconsideration Tactics?

[not sure if this is an appropriate question actually. please remove if not, but I'm open to PM's with your thoughts on what I should do!]

Situation:

Last fall I opened a Marriott Premier rewards card, with Chase, and a few months ago I opened a CO onepass plus, also with Chase, for 50k, no annual fee.

Recently I received a targeted offer for a UA mileage plus signature visa, 50k sign up after first purchase, waive annual fee for a year, with Chase.

I have great credit (score was 740+ post-CO card), but I will admit I think Chase has given me a lot of credit on those first 2 cards relative to my salary. Chase denied me on the UA card because "too many requests for credit or opened accounts" - this makes sense, given I recently opened two other cards.

I call up chase, hoping to reduce some of my credit line, and reapply. The woman says i can do that, and she starts asking me how much I want to reduce the credit lines. I ask to confirm the card offer details - she couldn't so she puts me over to customer service to confirm.

Customer service confirms that as long as its a resubmission, not a new submission, then the offer details remain.

They send me back to the reconsideration line, and I get a different woman. I reexplain what I'd like to do, she seems to understand. She asks me for my application info again, and puts me on hold...little did I know she was submiting it for reconsideration!!!! she never asked me/gave me a chance to reduce my credit limits....

She comes back on and says the same problem - too many requests.

Thoughts? Can I try again for reconsideration? Or are all these reconsiderations killing my credit history??
