I have a CPAP and I'm flying back on the SMF-IAH redeye next month. I might use it in-flight with the in-seat power on the 739. I say might, because the flight is short, so I might just stay up and watch tv or whatever.
I know CO used to prevent CPAP usage in-flight, but their page now says:
https://www.continental.com/web/en-U...ntilators.aspx
A forty-eight (48) hour minimum advance notification to reservations (1-800-228-2744) is required for customers using a ventilator, respirator or CPAP machine onboard. Reservations will ensure the device you are planning to use is on the list of current, approved devices and will provide guidance on the number of batteries you will need for your flight. ... Please note that aircraft in-seat electrical power is available on a limited number of aircraft, and there is no guarantee that the in-seat power will be operative. ... Therefore, customers must have an ample supply of fully charged batteries plus 3 hours of extra battery time for the flight.
I do not have a battery for my CPAP and I have no interest in buying one or carrying one for this trip. If I call to give Continental to give the advance notice that I have a CPAP, but will not have a battery, will they give me a hard time?
Also, if I put in a request like this, will it do anything to my automatic elite upgrade request? (I'm a Premier matched to Silver, so I am still not as familiar with the CO system.)
Like I said, I might use the CPAP, but if it is going to be a pain for whatever reason, it can just stay in my bag.
Thanks,
BillJ
