FWIW, my last Hilton PL stay was two months ago at the Galleria Hilton in Houston.

They refused to add my HHonors # even though I was paying out of pocket for parking and internet.

I did, however, receive a very nice upgraded room on the HHonors floor and was treated very well by the hotel staff. A return visit would not be a problem.
