Along with $45k wasted, how about the new jet bridges they bought without an elevator for plane side luggage checks on RJs? I guess a few work comp injuries don't cost the airport anything.

Also, why doesn't GRR install the security door like DFW and other airports have that eliminates the TSA watchers on the exit lanes? I bet it's because TSA costs don't come out of the airport budget, so GRR figures why spend the money. Great example how our country wastes money.

Re: wait times.
I've found that for pre-6am flights, concourse A is a reasonable line--usually around the Starbucks entry.

For a 7am flight recently I was there at 6am, line for security was back to the DL luggage office and it took around 30 minutes. If you get there and the line is back to the sliding entry doors, I think then you've got about a 40-45 minute wait.

FWIW, I have seen GRR staff pull people out of the line if it was T-30 for their flight to leave. Which I can respect, if I was in that situation I'd appreciate that too. It was like the airport staff was managing the line queue, instead of TSA dorks just sitting there doing nothing....

Hey USAF_pride, have you experienced the 'floating' TSA guy that chats you up, right as you get to the top of the A security 'hill', right before you give the TSA your ID? I asked him what his purpose was once and he got real surly.
thats why I just ignore him.
