If you're a BAEC member then you should press 4... Don't think you need to have "status". I sometimes get this option when calling UK BAEC from abroad and can't use the 0800 number. Don't know what difference, if any, it makes, but you are a member so press the key!
I have done both, twice I didn't pick four, once I did. When I didn't pick four the wait was 7 minutes once and 10 minutes the other time, when I pressed four my call was answered immediately. I hope not to have to call again, but if I do I will try four and see if they answer immediately again or it was just dumb luck.
