I still find the excitement on this topic over here quite funny... as I mentioned in another discussion, I have used by IDC card WITHOUT PIN many times in Germany at the train kiosks to pay for train tickets without any problems.

Worked every time!

EDIT: My IDC also does not have a CHIP.
