Welcome to FlyerTalk, nontraveller.

While not an expert on airline technology and mechanics, I personally feel assured that Delta Air Lines is safe, particularly after several tours of their Technical Operations Center at their world headquarters in Atlanta. Here are photographs from just one of those tours. They adhere to the strictest quality control processes, including Six Sigma.

Additionally, they contract their world-renowned technology services to governments with aircraft and other airlines all over the world, and it is a very profitable business for them. You will often find aircraft from airlines whose nearest destination they serve can be hundreds of miles from Atlanta and would not otherwise be there.

The fact that they pay attention to every detail — such as windshield wipers — is an excellent sign that they are indeed a safe airline.
