I'm wondering about this, too (they always check your passport/visa upon departure in Brazil) - and I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Varig appears to have treated you quite nicely during your unexpected layover - good of them to have kept you informed, fed and lodged so well.

The multi-lingual taxi tour of Porto Alegre sounded great, especially with your new friends. Thanks again for a very enjoyable report.
