There is a difference between what the web site offers and what AC can do if needed. If you call up AC reservations they can request seats from all kinds of airlines that won't come up on ac.com.

Or if you don't want to deal with it you could use a travel agency who can tell you what combinations are possible and deal with figuring out the rules and options.
