Actually if you read the Star Alliance website http://www.staralliance.com/en/benefits/gold-silver-status/ , silver benefits were reduced by the Alliance it would seem.

Remember, member airlines are required to provided the minimum benefits listed, some carriers may choose to provided more but the site clearly lists the benefits and it would seem that *Silver is only required to receive two benefits.
