They may expire based on certain stated periods of inactivity, but otherwise can be combined for future stays.
Table game comps are of course a different story given the subjectiveness implicit in systems in which casino hosts decide comps.
I am a slot player and can definitely tell you that in the MGM system, each trip stands on its own under the new MLife program. I went through this in detail with my host earlier this month. If we don't gamble at a certain level, we will not receive RFB for that trip no matter how many times we've been there this year. We would still get a free room/suite for that trip but they would not cover the food. And it would impact future offers.
