The Comet pre-dated the DC8. My statement specifically dealt with major commercial jet aircraft "from the DC8 to the 777", hence excluding the Comet. However, just to clarify the point, DanAir London operated the Comet on scheduled service until the mid-80s which is less than 25 years ago.
