Yes, actually some hotels have front desk agents smarter than a brick, and they might. Not usually, but I arranged for my nephew's fiancee to stay at the DoubleTree JFK when she arrived from HEL, and her a/c arrived delayed. The FD clerk denied her admittance, and she spent the night wandering JFK airport.

Regardless of what they / HH might have offered the damage was done. Be sure your mate shows with a printout of the ressie. (Yes, I know, small chance - but it has happened.)

OTOH, another nephew, I booked him into an ES near LAX, and - mirabile dictu, I got the points!

If the worst thing that happens is I don't get the points then that's fine. At the end of the day the room is paid for and I've provided all the required details of the bloke who will be staying there so I guess they can't not allow him to stay can they?

Its a stay of 10 days so worth a bit of cash.

Cheers,
