I've saved up miles on United for a J or F class ticket one day and plan on saving enough for the wife as well. But if it's really hard then I will probably stop and focus with the one world alliance for J or F on CX.

I heard Singapore has the family suites, anyone been in one? Does it work great with a 2-3 yr?

The R class suites on the A380 cannot be booked with *A miles. You will not be able to book any F class award other than routes with the 747 with *A miles (which still rarely open to *A partners). I would give up or start accruing KF miles.
