My thinking typically goes like this:

A319 : Least seats, so best chance of being full and getting an upgrade ^
A320 : Chance of space saver seats, and therefore no A+C config in the first row of ET
A321 : Most seats, so less likely to be full and therefore more overhead bin space ^
