As we're being geeky! These down aircraft are very different. 2 engines vs 4 being the most obvious! completely different type rating to fly. The A320 variants are all interchangeable with a little bit of "differences training". The idea is to keep costs down and have lots of flexibility within the fleet.
Good to know: I always assumed the 330/340 was a common type rating.
Aren't the flightdecks identical save for engines and a few differences in fuel tanks? I guess they must handle significantly differently from one another.
