We compared our older Rimowa Topas, a Lufthansa model Topas, and my sons' newer Topas, who lives nearby. There are improvements with the case construction and assembly manufacture. There is little noticeable difference of the interior capacity. The interior blue Rimowa fabric from 1994 is in my opinion the best of the three.
The Alu cases last forever, dents, dings, and scuffs notwithstanding. But I admit I am very impressed by the Salsa Air: Light, " slippery " (in and out of overhead bins), easy to clean (using a US product called Goof Off ), and half of the Topas price we originally paid.
We returned from a 6 week trip to Brasil, with 6 flight legs, and sustained one small dent in the alu case. Nothing in the way of contents was broken or damaged inside, and my wifes' Salsa Air looks brand new.
The Herr Rimowa title was funny: We live in the French-speaking Canton of Neuchâtel.
