well, i'll give you the biggest hand here just because i've seen it. you really shouldnt have asked and use search.
1) my mum got SL when she was past 21K mark and way below 30K. this year she's past 30K clear (for renewal. she was hoovering 29K for a while and nothing happened).
2)I was SL on 2005-2006 and 2007-2008. I'm still GR. go figure if they'd give me SL(i hardly have any status miles for the last few years)
