Indeed; I've had great experiences with several UA agents at LAX. And yes, I've also seen some of the bad apples.
OP, it's IMHO worth writing in (I'd go with snail mail, actually)... not likely anything will happen aside from you getting an e-cert or so, but you've got to call attention to the bad apples so at least someone higher up is aware there's a problem.
