I'm guessing all being Delta legacy crews is part, but seems like something else is at work here. Do they have a lot of say as to whether they want to work the flights or not? And are they typically JFK based?

On another note...beware the swap of a 763 intl for the 757 on this route. I switched to one of those as a good flyertalker for the widebody experience (was allowed paid business class this flight). Got the widebody feel, but Delta modifies the stocking of those so only the forward galley is used. The mid galley normally used as the secondary business class galley is not stocked or used. So you have all the flight attedants trying to do the service out of one, which even if you have extra hands helping leads to a slow and unwieldy service.

They also didn't do the mixes of items well...they ran out of sundaes and about 1/3rd of folks got Ben and Jerry's cups from the back. Pilots also ended up with no meals.

It was over a year ago that I last experienced one of these swaps, but in that case they did stock both galleys so service went very smoothly.
This actually happens with some frequency. I fly the route a lot, and on all of my flights they have been swapped 4 or 5 times in the last 6 months or so, on the flights I have taken. Also, on all of my swapped flights, they used BOTH galleys. that must have been a change they made since you last flew it on a 763ER. But I have to agree on the FA's they are some of the best!
