On the way back from NRT, I flew LAX-NRT (flight 426) yesterday afternoon. Domestic upgrade didn't clear, but I boarded on the elite line. A service manager I had never met before twice shouted out a gratuitous insult to me as I was boarding (causing other passengers to glare at me and one even to ask me about my history with this agent). Then on the flight (alas, in Y on a 757

) a FA grazed my shoe with her cart early in the flight and started yelling at me--I told her (and showed her) that I had moved my foot and she continued her rant for a while saying that she would have to keep reminding me.
Why is the service so bad at LAX? Is this usual or did I happen to get two people who shouldn't be working for UA? I did not say or do anything to provoke either agent. (I understand from the purser that the gate agent thought he was funny when he shouted the insults at me. I have his name but I am undecided about reporting him to UA.)
