It's also nice to see another NW ff member frustrated with NW's awards policy. Basically, summer is a peak time for Asian-American travelers to go visit their relatives. Did you also feel frustrated that you weren't getting any miles towards your NW account since you were on PR?

Yup. This is typical of Filipino-American travelers -- not so much with me anymore since I ship about 4 boxes beforehand. Filipino-Americans are always excited to go back to the Philippines for a vacation or to visit relatives. NW has a special sticker that says "Manila - Excess Baggage" or "Manila - Heavy".
