Not sure about the stupidity part.

We take mileage runs (well several of us do) taking trips on airplanes to go places we are not even going to. We all calculate ingenious routings (well several of us do) to maximize mileage and ensure we remain elite by end of the year. What is so strange about transiting in a journey where one is not pressed for time? I have once flown from NYC to LON LGA-IAD-DTW-AMS-LCY on northwest/klm and I survived that well.

All I am saying is i have time to travel and dont mind a stopover just to experience something different and add to my experience of airlines. Like last year I had same sickness and flew ANA back from tokyo and was well worth the reminder that at end of day there is little special about CO BF.
