Normally the best practice in these situations would be to fly yourself on the revenue ticket, and get the award for the other person. That way you accrue the miles, bonuses, and EQM.
Good point, but both of us have status (Gold). She has fewer status miles at the moment, so the decision was revenue for her and award for me.
