FYI- We had asked to be re-booked on a Delta (DXB-ATL, ATL-BDL) that was leaving very similar to our original 1 stop itinerary just hour and half earlier, but they said they would only re-book us on Star Alliance carriers.
(Made it to FRA, 2 legs to go)
