Suggestions for weekend trip to Rome
I am traveling for work to Milan the last week of August but am considering heading to Rome on Friday (September 2). Must fly back to the USA on Monday, September 5 (Labor Day). I am planning on taking the train to Rome on the 2nd; would like any suggestions on a good place to stay and how to make the best use of my sightseeing time while in Rome (Friday evening through Sunday). My main interest is in ancient Roman history and archeology so places like the Forum and the Colosseum are a must; I have also been told that the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican should not be missed (although a more thorough visit to the Vatican may have to wait until another occasion).
