I believe it depends on the input asked. If only one FF number/ID is requested, one should enter KL/xxxxxxxxxxxx. If its possible to select the FF program and additionally enter the number, the 2 letter code can be left blank.

The 2 letter code is required for them to know where to send the points to. After all, account number 0000001 exists in each FF program...unfortunately its not unique alliance wide.
