Thanks for pointing that out. That might sway us against it.

I'm rather used to getting in countries visa-free....

"The Transit visa is valid for direct transit only within 15 days of date of issue for a maximum period of 3 days with single or double entry. For a stay in India beyond 3 days, an appropriate visa should be obtained."

Which would limit us to a stopover outbound.

Other problem is my son's passport expires two days after we return, so we need to get a new one first. He also has an Indonesian passport, but that's expired too.....

£165 for 4 tourist visas, or £104 for 4 transit visas, plus more hassle and silly bureaucracy.
