TD Bank bought Commerce Bank in 2008. Commerce Bank's 'lobby hook' had been the coin counter machine for more than 5 years before that. Commerce Bank offered the service free to their customers, 6% fee to non-customers. TD Bank continued the practice after the acquisition.

My mom had been to this TD before and they NEVER charged her. They told her this was A NEW POLICY.
I lost count, but this location has been there 20-30 years and has been at least 5 different banks over the years. Some got merged, some moved, but it keeps changing who it is.
