What about the direct National Express coach, at least every hour and it takes about 2:30 hours for at the utmost 26 GBP. No need to do that conncetion extravaganza by rail. Any HEX and Taxi combo is certainly by far more expensive and time consuming.
Normally looking for the least expensive option (this comes outta my pocket). That would be train/tube combo. However, given the amount of stuff I have to carry, National Express may be the best option. In addition, it departs Brighton only 2 blocks from where I am working so I would avoid the schlep uphill to the train station.
Just checked out the baggage limits for National Express. Two items at 20 kilos each. That is just about exactly what I will have with me. ^
