Did you ever find your answer? I am curious myself. Late a couple nights ago I did check LAX, SYD, SIN, AKL, SYD and PER. I didn't bother to write the exact numbers down, but my finding was for an Australian based person, the fare differential wasn't enough to make a positioning flight worth the hassle.
