Have you tried asking DL to reschedule you without charge to a longer connection? I think an hour and a half is right at the minimum for international to domestic in ATL.
I second the Globa Entry but even that doesn't make any difference if the bag doesn't come up the belt quick enough. The yellow should help since they are getting better about that. I have GE and love it, esp when about 2-4 flights all arrive at the same time. Most of my experiences have the 2L door being used in ATL. But that's not a given.
