I do a lot of short trips during the year but once a year like a longer relaxing trip to get away from the frigid NC winters

I usually go somewhere for a month or so in December/January area. My family had a beach home but sold it 3 years ago and the last couple years I did a month long Spanish immersion course which was fun but was thinking of doing something a little less mentally taxing this year..... but not sure where to start?? I was thinking a nice beach somewhere? I think I would prefer to plop myself down in one location and negotiate a longer term rental to save money. But, I just am not sure where to even start....
Seriously, I would like to keep my total spend for the month under $2000 for
everything so which countries or regions do I start researching and any other advice you can offer would be great.
Have enough miles to go around the world several times, so airfare is not included in the cost, BTW
I will be traveling solo and fine with simple but safe and clean accommodations.
hmmm..... should this be under the budget travel forum???
You should take a look at rural Taiwan (meaning anywhere outside of Taipei, Kaohsiung, or other major city areas). It's an island so there's beaches. Really low cost of living but at a high quality. $2k USD is about $60k NTD and most college grads don't make that much after 5 years of working. You'll have plenty of fun and maybe learn some Chinese. English could be somewhat understood. Taiwan is by most standards a safe and peaceful country with few major strifes and good infrastructure in place.
