Recently I needed to be in Atlanta on June 7 and when looking at tickets a MCO-ATL-MCO ticket on June 7 was horribly expensive. So I got creative and put together a multi-city itenerary which gave me a MUCH better price.

The multi-city roundtrip consisted of flying MCO-ATL-MCO on May 29. Since I had nothing better to do that day I just flew up to Atlanta for the day and saw a few attractions and then flew back home to MCO that night.

Then on June 7 I flew back up to Atlanta and took care of what I needed to and then flew back home to MCO that night.

So the whole itenerary only involved two airports. MCO-ATL-MCO-ATL-MCO.

A Skyclub agent got a pretty good laugh at the itenerary and congratulated me on finding the low fare.

However on June 7 I guess my itenerary sort of tripped up Deltamatic and it wouldn't let me OLCI. When asked about this at check-in at MCO she said the computer already thought I had traveled... Anyway the agent checked me in with no further trouble, but she did have to issue me a paper ticket in order to get me back on the upgrade list. Strange...
If you can book it all on one reservation, there's no problem with it. DL issued it as one ticket, so they can't come and charge you with fraudulent ticketing.

The issue in OP's case is that s/he wants to avoid the two-night stay requirement in the fare rule and thus needs two reservations. This is an attempt to circumvent the fare rule and thus technically a violation of the CoC.
