This is the reason I constantly debating if I should stay with AP and fly AC. If I can't upgrade, what's the point of staying in the program (might as well sign up A3 and get my *G with 20k EQM) and fly CO/UA often cheaper than AC. (Ah btw, just found out CO pts doesn't expire like AP! I was happy to "re-discover" my 12k pts that I completely forget about over the years and able to redeem for a Japan domestic ticket.)
I will be trying for my upgrade for YYZ-YVR-HKG real soon... (2x this year, plus a NRT-YYZ upgrade) Hopefully I will get lucky.
On the other hand, I should have enough EQM by the end of the year (but not before end of Oct) to be SE for 2012. Just wish I have more vacation days/chances to fly.
