AFIK, Most chlorinated pools are run at concentrations of 1ppm of free chlorine. If this were my pool, I would bring the free chlorine concentration up to at least 3ppm through superchlorination and wait for it to come back to the normal residual. Add the chlorine at sundown and keep the pool closed until you get a normal residual of 1ppm The pool will probably have to be closed for 24 hours.
The on-site maintenance man probably knows all of this and this is probably not the first time that he has dealt with fecal matter in his pool.
