Actually, my ownership of a week every 2 years in Scottsdale in August in the Starwood system is working out very well. Buying it got me close to 60K of SPG points, plus permanent gold SPG owner status which I would never otherwise earn, and 7 days in Scottsdale in the summer can still be traded for 4 days anywhere in the Starwood Ownership system any time of the year on a value basis. And the more that travel industry is hurting, the EASIER it is to get the dates and places I want. I've never used my 7 summer days IN Scottsdale, but I have traded it for 4 days in peak season (typically January Feb, or March) in Maui, Kauai, and St. John with no problems.
