I know this isn't necessarily relevant to the LY alliance conversation, but TP has emerged as the leading carrier serving Europe-Brazil flights. They serve 10 different Brazilian airports, including several in the northeast that have no other service to Europe. They also fly some interesting routes, like FNC(Madeira)-CCS(Caracas). I guess you could say *A appreciates an airline even if it only contributes to one niche market, so that could help LY.

As for JK, they only seem to help *A's customers, as they frequently neglect the fuel surcharge on their codeshares, often creating excellent deals from the US to Spain (IB does this too sometimes).
