I have had the high-end Etymotic earphones for 13 years now (on my second set) and I absolutely love them. Use them on every flight. They work great as earplugs without any music, and then turn a little music on and you don't hear anything. The sound quality is incredible, no batteries (you can use them on take-off and landing), and extremely small pack volume. Yeah, they are about $300, but well worth it.
Welcome to Flyertalk!
And thanks for the impact. I use the mid-cheap ones and love them. Maybe I will spring for some high end ones for my birthday. My wife is less likely to be mad about that than another suitcase, the Etys take up a lot less room that a B&R roller
